This period property in Surrey (circa 1900) is the most recent renovation to date, and was purchased as a repossession. Although there was a modern kitchen and bathroom installed, the garden had been left to overgrow, the property was in need of modernisation in other areas and their were indications of a damaged dpc would would require attention.

The renovation included:
  • A new DPC (damp proof course) to be installed on the ground floor.
  • The majority of walls and all ceilings to be skimmed, with new cornice fitted in all rooms.
  • Entire ground floor to be tiled
  • Small kitchen to be changed into a utility room.
  • New large Kitchen to be installed in existing dining room looking out onto the garden. Intergrated appliances fitted and new electrics required.
  • Rear ground floor extension built with bi-fold doors.
  • Ceiling roses to be installed in all rooms (except bathroom) to retain period features.
  • All skirting boards and architrave replaced.
  • Floorboards on first floor to be stripped, sanded and restained.
  • Garden cleared and large fir trees removed, new planting and lawn to be turfed. New sandstone patio laid and all fence panels replaced.
  • General refresh of paintwork on walls, ceilings and wood work.

This was the first renovation project I carried out back in 2006. The main theme inside and out was to modernise, while incorporating the black and white style theme prominent on the outside of the building.

The renovation included:
  • New Ceilings installed throughout and coving removed.
  • Real wood laminate in all rooms (except bathroom/kitchen).
  • Dated kitchen replaced with white high gloss units, new c-shape work surfaces, new sink, fitted appliances and tiled floor.
  • Replaced all doors with panelled wooden doors and added new door furniture.
  • All skirting boards and architrave replaced.
  • Blue stripe of wall tiles in the bathroom, were replaced with white tiles.
  • Exterior was leveled out and gravel was laid. Replanted with climbers attached to painted trellis work.
  • General refresh of paintwork on walls, ceilings and wood work.
